I started taking pictures in high school. I loved working in the darkroom and using the negative to create a photo.
The medium has moved from film to digital in the intervening years but I still enjoy the development process. For me the photo that I take is just the launching pad for the image. Creating a black and white or isolating a part of the image to highlight what I saw is an integral part of the my photographic process.
I use photography as my means of self expression, I find photography to be a very contemplative process. I have no particular style of photography instead I tend to show up at an event or location and immerse myself in the environment and see what happens. Lately I have been leaning more towards minimalist photography to try and isolate small slices of the event.
Some of the things that intrigue me include sports, I love trying to capture the commitment and mood of the athletes. I will often try and shoot at 1/60 of a second to try and capture movement in the scene. I love shooting musicians, it is fascinating to see them lose themselves in the moment. I enjoy shooting street, there is something very intimate in the interaction of people and the urban environment.
